The task at hand is to produce an artwork inspired by the Fleming Collection. This might mean you’re inspired to paint a still life in the manner of the Scottish Colourists or you wish to create your own version of Elizabeth Blackadder's Cat and Flowers : creativity can take many forms! To find inspiration, search our collection online.

The competition will be judged in November in two age categories, under 11s, and 11 and upwards with a first prize of £50 art supplies vouchers. Runners up in each category will receive a copy of our publication ‘A History of Scottish Art’ for future inspiration.

We hope this competition will help kick start a school year of creativity and we would like parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, older siblings and teachers themselves to get the young artists involved! Follow us on social media or via our newsletter for updates.

To enter, email images of the artwork and details of the inspiration to info@flemingcollection.com with the subject line ‘Fleming Collection Young People’s Art Competition’. Please include the name and age of the competition entrant. The deadline for entry is Friday 8 November
