Margot Sandeman, 1922-2009
Margot Sandeman was born in Glasgow on May 27, 1922. Her parents were artists, and she grew up in an artistic household. She attended Glasgow School of Art. She had a skill for painting life in depth in a vivid and simple style, using elemental colour. During her early career, she primarily painted in oils and acrylics and was heavily influenced by poetry, frequently including literary and poetic references in her paintings. Sandeman's work was heavily influenced by her surroundings. Sandeman was a member of the Society of Scottish Artists and exhibited extensively throughout her career in Scotland. She was passionate about painting until her passing.
