Thomas Hay, 1862-1921
Thomas Marjoribanks Hay SSA RSW was born in 1862 and died in Edinburgh in 1921. He was a landscape painter who worked primarily in watercolour, and he also designed stained glass in his early career. He spent the majority of his artistic career in Edinburgh, but many of his studies focus on the landscapes of Perthshire and the central Highlands. Hay was a member of the Society of Scottish Artists and was elected RSW in 1895. He also exhibited at the RBSA, GI, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, MAFA, Royal Academy, RHA, RI, ROI, and Royal Scottish Academy, Aberdeen Artists' Society, Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Hibernian Academy, and the Royal Hibernian Academy.
