This painting displays Walker's fascination with light as well as the documentation of her mother at work which raises subtle questions about women’s roles. The theme also relates to lockdown when Walker returned imaginatively to the security of her childhood home in Fife. The cedar tree crops up in other paintings in the series, connecting this painting to the others, bringing together concerns with the inside as well as the outside.
