F Strip by Helen MacAlister (b. 1969) depicts the pattern of an F strip, which is a piece of aluminum used in construction, captured with pencil outlines. It presents a simple form through delicate lines of pencil that have symmetrical elements to them. MacAlister's studies of prints is present in this work with the simplicity of the design and her interest in place through the subject matter of the F strip. Much of MacAlister's work focuses on architectural elements, but through their patterned form, seen here in the capture of the uniformity of the subject.
